Green Idea: Consider Switching to Reusable "Paper" Towels

While they are certainly one of the most convenient cleaning supplies, paper towels are also one of the most wasteful. Here are five tutorials to make your own "Unpaper Towels," and you can even "thrift" a lot of the materials!

White Towels with Serged Edges

Unpaper Towels from The Seasoned Homemaker

Unpaper Towels: I love the look of these Unpaper Towels by Leslie at The Seasoned Homemaker. They have such a fresh, clean look, and the multi-colored edges are so pretty (which, by the way, she acheieves with a serger, but if you don't have one, she'll give some instructions for a regular machine, too).

Towels that Snap Together

Reusable Paper Towel Tutorial from That Short Girl's Blog

Eliza from That Short Girl's Blog has a great Reusable Paper Towel Tutorial on her site (and I love her fabric choices), plus, she's got an Etsy shop where she sells them, do if you're not a DIY-er, you can buy them from her for only $38--think of the money you'll be saving by using these instead! Lots of other cute handmade linens in her shop, too :)

I also like the tutorial for DIY Reusable "Paper" Towels from Jess at homevolution. She's got a lot of great pictures to help you through the process, too.

Fabric Paper Towel Roll: Vanessa from Crafty Gemini will show you how to make this adorable DIY Fabric Paper Towel Roll on her blog, and she's also got a great how-to VIDEO to go with it!

DIY Earth Day Ideas

DIY Unpaper Towels from A Blossoming Life

I totally love the bright colors Amy chose to feature in the tutorial for DIY Unpaper Towels on her blog, A Blossoming Life. Also, she uses velcro instead of snaps, so that may be easier for less-experienced crafters :)

Have fun crafting "green"!
